A reissue of the band's first album, "Approach to Anima," released in May 2023, will be released at the same time as the new EP!

The debut album "Approach to Anima" was released by Guruguru Brain / Bayon Production in May 2023 and quickly sold out. This precious first album, which was only available as an import and on

maya ongaku builds a foundational groove while drawing out what is deep within. Sonoda's supple guitar and vocals, Takano's rolling bassline, Ikeda's floating woodwinds, and delicate percussion and synths create an atmosphere that is assertive yet abstract, calm yet unsettling. The sax-driven "Approach" is an introduction to maya ongaku's world, while "Water Dream" floats towards the serene finale of "Pillow Song". It succinctly encapsulates their many interests and influences, including the intersection of modern art such as neo-dada and Fluxus with developments in recording technology in the late '60s. As the title suggests, Approach to Anima is not a destination, but merely the beginning of an exploration. Maya ongaku is a trio of childhood friends who are constantly looking beyond the idyllic yet rapidly gentrifying Enoshima. Fueled by the energy of Kikagaku Moyo, a label boss band that became world famous from a street performance in Takadanobaba, and their 10-year triumphant journey, they can find their music anywhere, anywhere in the world, if they are inspired. Maya Onagku's free worldview will show us what we cannot see, expand the possibilities of the naked eye, and make us feel the unrestrained vitality of their music.
