To celebrate the 85th anniversary of BLUE NOTE, a 180g blue-colored version will be released exclusively at indie record stores!A work featuring a quartet with Sonny Clark (piano), Butch Warren (bass), and Billy Higgins (drums). By the time he recorded GO! in 1962, Dexter Gordon had already lived several lives in the jazz world. He was one of the first to adapt the language of bebop to tenor sax in the 1940s, but after a decade of limited activity due to personal troubles, he signed with Blue Note in 1961 and began releasing a series of important albums that marked the rebirth of the tenor giant. GO! showcases Gordon's boundless creativity in hard swing numbers like his stunning versions of classics "Cheese Cake" and "Love for Sale," as well as his unparalleled artistry in ballads, as evidenced by his masterful takes on standards "I Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry" and "Where Are You." |
