A liberating session where rock and funk intersectThe second album by the Bats Band, formed by former Doors members Robbie Krieger (guitar) and John Densmore (drums), strongly reflects elements of funk and reggae. Robbie Krieger's guitar, while based in blues rock, features funky cutting notes, incorporating wah-wah pedals and slide playing. John Densmore's drums go beyond traditional rock beats, incorporating Latin and reggae rhythms to give the ensemble a flexible groove. With the addition of vocals and keyboards, the album documents the band's pursuit of a more liberated and rhythmic musical style, different from that of the Doors. |
