This work was born as if turning its back on the pop-oriented style of the previous work.This concept album is inspired by the true story of the girl rescued from Severn Bridge and tells a profound and dark tale. "Brave" marked a departure from the pop direction of their previous album, "Holidays in Eden," weaving themes of loss, loneliness, and escape into a 70-minute-plus story. Its melancholic tone drew mixed reviews, but it also garnered critical acclaim. It reached number 10 in the UK album chart and number 7 in the Netherlands, and the single "The Hollow Man" reached number 30 in the UK. Critics also praised it, with *Kerrang!* giving it a perfect score and AllMusic calling it "one of the most complex albums ever." Classic Rock magazine also named it one of the "30 Best Albums of the 90s" and "30 Greatest Concept Albums of All Time." |
