An elegant and clean sound sketch that captures the crisp winter scenery of Northern California.
The third installment in George Winston's four-part series, The Four Seasons. Rather than focusing on the seasons, the film condenses the imagery into the month of December, creating a fantasy of the music of snow falling from heaven, the first snow purifying everything.
More than half of the songs are traditional carols and selections from Christmas albums that Winston himself enjoys listening to. In particular, "Carol of the Bells," a traditional 19th century Ukrainian carol, has a pleasant, dreamy atmosphere, as if snow is dancing on the keyboard.
