Brazilian jazz that combines passion and delicacyA masterpiece by a Brazilian vocalist. A beautiful fusion of jazz and Latin music, her beautiful and expansive voice is impressive. Flora Purim's vocals gracefully ride atop Latin rhythms and jazz/fusion-inspired improvisation, creating a superb composition. The title track, "Everyday, Everynight," blends a light groove with melodic development, transporting the listener to a world of gentle sway throughout the entire album. Other tracks, such as "Samba Michel" and "Five-Four," make use of rhythmic shifts, and "Walking Away" strikes a balance between restraint and openness, lending each track a distinct texture. The backing musicians are also a talented group of musicians from Japan and the United States, effectively combining the flawless ensemble with the tension of the improvisation. The dynamic rhythms and emotional vocals blend together in this excellent work, showcasing Flora Purim's multifaceted talent. |
